Jared McCoy grew up in Mattituck, New York on the east end of Long Island and received his bachelor’s degree in literature from American University in Washington, DC. He is currently an English PhD candidate at the University of California, Irvine. His dissertation, Text Machines, is an inquiry into the theoretical and practical implications of contemporary mnemotechnologies and will be posted to this site incrementally to encourage an open peer review. Some of his other interests include knowledge infrastructure, digital humanities, eLearning, algorithmic criticism, folksonomy, ergonomics, dictation, text-to-speech (TTS), transhumanism, critical theory, deconstruction, modernism, postmodernism and surfing.
